Flames of War V4 and some Ram Kangaroo's
I'm back, been too long...
So since my last post version 4 of flames of war has hit. It's caused quite a stir in the flames community and after being somewhat unsure of the tabled changes i finally got a copy and am looking forward to exploring v4. After I've managed to play a few more games I'll post back further thoughts. So far though my initial impressions are that v4 encourages you to create army lists that are more representative of the force you are looking to represent. No divisional support choice's count for your company morale anymore so i think we'll all see alot less gear in the rear on a flames tabletop. Another major change is reserves are worked out on a 40% points total of your force now.. it's no longer platoons counts.. Selection of you're force is now massively different to v3, even more so since recon units no longer lift gone to ground and smoke has been limited to one bombardment per battery per game..
As time permits and i get more games under my belt i look at changes on a closer level.
But for tonight i wanted to post up a little project I've been working on the last few days.. A conversion for some Ram Kangaroo's for my British infantry force.
So how does this relate to v4 you ask?? Under v4 armoured or armed transport team's can stay on board for any nation. They also operate as a unit attachment and so can move separate from their infantry unit. The ram in flames is front armour 5 and side armour 3 and has the option to have a hull mounted 50 Cal mg which means it doesn't require a team being transported to fire it. So a few spare Sherman hulls and some green stuff and my rams are on the way. The ability for them to stay on the battlefield and support my infantry with a 50 Cal mounted on each will really help out my units both in defense and attack..
Right thanks for reading and I'll try and post back sooner this time..
